Double Glazing
& Climate Control

Double glazing allows the climate inside your home to be separated from what is happening outside.

In a single glazed house, insulated to current minimum building code requirements, the largest single proportion of heat loss will be through the windows (approaching 50%).

In the same way that our indoor comfort can be impacted by cold outdoor conditions, double glazing controls warm summer temperatures when too much solar energy enters your home.

By controlling your climate through double glazing:

• Maintain more even and comfortable temperatures in your home.

• Keep the glass surfaces warmer so that condensation frequency and severity is significantly reduced.

• Reduce the need for energy to replace the heat that is no longer escaping through your windows.

When we retrofit Double Glazing or new thermally efficient joinery into your home with our reFit or reFrame services, we also include our Eversure Climate Control range of glass solutions. These help you achieve comfortable conditions inside your home regardless of the season.

Our Solutions For Climate Control

  • Heat flows through materials from warmer to cooler areas. Insulating materials restrict this heat flow while good thermal conductors (like glass) allow heat to transfer through them quickly.

Eversure SureTemp double glazing slows this process down by creating an insulating layer between 2 panes of glass.

Typically, this reduces the rate of heat loss through the glass by around 50%. There are several factors which influence how effectively double glazing will reduce conductive heat loss.

    These include:

    • The space between the glass panes: Eversure SureTemp solutions have been designed to optimise the insulation space available.

    • The insulating efficiency of the air or gas used to fill the space: Argon gas fill provides another incremental insulation improvement and is an available option with all Eversure SureTemp double glazing.

    • The thermal conductivity of the spacer which separates the two glass panes: Eversure SureTemp double glazing includes a structural foam spacer to optimise insulation.

  • SureTemp LE couples high performance radiant energy control with our SureTemp measures. This minimises conductive heat losses through the glass. This is achieved with no compromise to the optical qualities of the glass in respect of either visible light transmission, clarity, or colour.

SureTemp LE includes a high-performance Low E glass for optimal retention of heat in your home.

By replacing the single pane of glass in your home with SureTemp LE double glazing you’ll experience:

    • Reduced rate of heat loss through the glass by over 80% (measured at the centre of the glass).

    • Visible light transmitted into your home from the sun through your double glazing will be virtually the same as clear glass of the same thickness.

    • High level of clarity as opposed to the hazing that affects many other Low E glasses.

    • Better protection against condensation and cold air currents than standard double glazing through further thermal improvement that result in warmer inside glass temperatures.

    • Enhanced level of control over incoming solar energy. This reduces overheating and fading while still allowing your home to receive and retain warmth in winter.

Argon gas fill is an available option with Eversure SureTemp LE double glazing.

  • Sometimes too much sun can cause excess warmth or damage and you may benefit from further control over the amount of heat you receive from the sun without compromising the warmth provided by SureTemp LE.

SureTemp LE plus utilises a Low E glass which reflects this radiant heat across this wider band so that winter heat is still retained in your home but a higher level of incoming solar energy is reflected away to allow even more control of summer temperatures.

When SureTemp LE plus is used for this role in your home you’ll experience:

    • A glass pane that can provide both winter warmth and solar control.

    • Clear glass as opposed to tinted glass that has been previously used in these situations.

    • Visible light coming into your home remains much higher than most tint would allow.

    • Energy is reflected from the glass rather than being absorbed as happens with tinted glass. Consequently, the glass stays cooler and is less susceptible to thermal breakages.

Argon gas fill remains an available option with Eversure SureTemp LE plus double glazing.

SureTemp LE plus extends the benefits of SureTemp LE to allow you to retain warmth but give you control when your glass is exposed to more solar energy than you require for comfort in your home.
